We all have different goals and dream bodies. If your goal is to build muscle and strength, you will need to follow a specific training program that allows you to do so.
The good news is that you don’t just have to go the gym to build the muscle and strength you want! With GuavaPass, you can select classes around the city that not only allow you to achieve your goals, but improve your flexibility, fitness, overall health and stamina. Plus group classes are a fantastic way to meet new people!
So how do you achieve your goals? You’ll need:
- A mix of strength-based classes that utilise both weighted and body weight exercises to build and tone muscle
- Some cardio classes to develop cardiovasular endurance, shred fat and improve circulation
- Stretching and flexibility focused classes to reduce the risk of injury and recover faster.
Below is what your week would look like if you choose to follow our muscle and strength building training program. Repeat this program for 4 weeks to help you get the muscle and strong body you wish for.
If you choose to push yourself and workout 6 days a week, you can add a Cardio class on Day 7.
So why these classes?
Strength classes: To build muscle, your workouts need to target fast-twitch muscle fibres. Fast-twitch muscles fibres grow bigger and stronger in response to resistance training, with enough volume to stimulate growth. This is why classes that include weights, such as CrossFit, are perfect to help you achieve the latter.
Yoga or Pilates classes: Yoga and Pilates both focus on building strength through the use of our bodies and some equipment. They are also both wonderful for stretching of your muscles after lifting the previous day which helps to reduce the risk of injury.
Cardio classes: For optimal fitness, you should do both cardio workouts for aerobic health and strength training for muscle building and metabolic benefits. Stationary cardio machines can be used to build strength, but there are better options for your cardio workouts than the machines at the gym. Classes such as kickboxing, or those that focus on HIIT circuits can effectively help you to build different types of strength and endurance.
