Mighty Mom: Siri Nordheim (@sirinordheim)
Kids: Sophia (almost age 4) & Isabella (almost age 2)
Describe a typical day for you, starting from when you wake up:
I wake up around 7:30 AM and we all have breakfast as a family. It’s the best time of the day as we are all around the table together. I teach 6 mornings a week, so after I drop my oldest at kindergarten I head to the studio for my MYbarre class. It gives me so much energy that after, I get straight to meetings with the team and organizing the studios. Healthy lunch is normally a working lunch somewhere local or a delivery and in the afternoon I pick up my eldest daughter for playtime and I hang with them for dinner. Night times change as James and I teach some nights so we take turns for bath and story with the girls and then get a chance to catch up on work together once they’re in bed.
How does keeping fit keep you mighty?
It makes me feel stronger and more positive when I include workouts and classes in my every day. The endorphins keep me happy and for sure, they help me focus on running our business.
What is your secret weapon?
Routine and structure for the kids and my wonderful ayi who helps me take care of them so I can be reactive to what’s happening at work. I co-manage with my partner, James, 2 studios and gyms as well as running a Barre training company myself called MYbarre so it’s a lot of moving parts.
What is your biggest tip for moms wanting to start their fitness journey, or to stay focused on the journey they’re on?
Find a form of exercise you love and make time in your diary to make it happen. For some, it has to be before the kids wake up or even once they in bed but be dedicated, schedule the time and make it happen. Think of it as a date with yourself. The results will be positive for your mind and body.
How important is keeping your kids active, and what do you do to encourage it?
It’s so important for me. Both me and James teach classes every day and I want my kids to know how important it is for us to stay fit and strong. I am so lucky to be able to run kids’ music and movement classes at the studios that my kids also go to like Zumba kids and ballet. We also love to dance at home and make our exercise fun for the girls.
Who is your Mighty Mom idol?
My own mother is my role model, she inspires and motivates me to grow without any barriers.
