Manila, Meet Your Most Active Member – Jennee!
From the 15th of October, she will be leading you through a 6 Week Fitness Challenge By GuavaPass. Read more about Jennee and the Challenge below!
My fitness journey started like a lot of people, my job is highly stressful, I turned to food and my lifestyle was very sedentary, eventually, I started gaining weight. I’ve always felt like I wasted a lot of years feeling bad about myself, about how I look and about how I feel, there was a day when I did not want to look in the mirror and that’s when I decided to change things.
GuavaPass was new in the Philippines when I joined, the variety of exercises and studios is what I love the most and to motivate myself I even started a blog back in 2016 to have my own personal Guava challenge, I finished my challenge but not the blog, but hey, I’ve tried 😉
I’ve started challenging myself with numbers but I slowly shifted my mindset from just reaching my weight goal to making this a part of my daily life, from then on I began to like exercising and actually look forward to it (sometimes while on a downward dog and catching my breath, I think about when I can do yoga again! I know, it’s crazy!) my mantra every time I enter any studio is “This is my safe space and I’m here to strengthen my mind and my body”. This mindset allowed me to fluidly integrate being active in my life. There are classes that I never thought I would do like boxing or boot camp, but you never know what you can do until you try!
When GuavaPass contacted me to be part of this challenge, I really wanted to say no, I had so many negative thoughts running in my head, I don’t feel like I can represent the challenge because I am not exactly skinny and not very active in social media too (I don’t even know how to properly take a video for Instagram!) but I put that aside because ever since starting my Guava journey and changed my mindset to value progress instead of perfection, I started losing the weight and gained more confidence, I’m also happier and felt more productive. If I can help other people to have the same positive outlook not just in fitness but in their everyday lives, that would be the best reward! I want people to know that 450 classes later, I am still a work in progress and I’m completely okay with that! I’ve learned that we should never confine ourselves with numbers, norms or what is acceptable by most people, we are unique and beautiful in our own way!
I hope to encourage a lot of people to try GuavaPass and use this challenge as an opportunity to jump-start a healthier life and more importantly to feel good about themselves, in busy times like these, we always forget that we deserve it!
