I have always loved running long distances and that was my only form of fitness since I was young to keep me fit. Aside from having a stamina for running, I didn’t know much about fitness. My siblings are very athletic but I never saw the need for incorporating fitness into my life, and only ran when I really needed to lose weight after the holiday seasons.
A few years ago, one of my girlfriends told me about GuavaPass back when they first launched in Jakarta, and it sounded so interesting, I signed up then and there.
I really got into it, and we ended up going to classes together instead of hanging out at our typical dinner and drinks spots. And it was so much more fun! I loved having the options to try out all these different types of exercises all over the city. It was a match made in heaven for me. Through GuavaPass, I discovered so many forms of exercises that I would never have tried on my own.
My sister is now an avid GuavaPass user after I roped her in, and we’re constantly going for classes together. GuavaPass just made it so much easier for me to hang out with my loved ones. My dad even became a member for a couple of months to go for classes together with us!
I love new experiences and every new class and studio is like an adventure on its own. It gave me the opportunity to cross-train as well find out what I like in exercise and training. It allowed me to keep on going and growing. Having started GuavaPass in Singapore, I was able to continue with my fit lifestyle when I moved to Jakarta, and even when I go abroad on holidays in SouthEast Asia.
I think the most pivotal change that joining GuavaPass has resulted in is working out every day, and setting it to become one of my priorities. I used to favor Friday night outs, but now I would rather have a Friday evening spin class and rest early so I could enjoy an early Saturday morning class! I’ve definitely changed my eating habits as well as my entire lifestyle. Working out so often and keeping a healthy lifestyle gave me that extra glow on my skin as well! I also decided to pursue pilates more in-depth and have just recently completed my Stotts Pilates Certification. I’m not about to become a Pilates instructor or change jobs but experiencing Pilates classes on GuavaPass definitely sparked my interest in the exercise and made even more interested in knowing more about it.
My fitness journey definitely transitioned from losing weight to getting strong, and now it’s becoming more aware, inside and out. I used to go for yoga classes and spins, then a lot of HIIT and circuit, kickboxing. Now, its all about control and awareness and I would like to incorporate it not only in my movements but also in other areas of my life!
