One of GuavaPass KL’s newest studio partners, Soulfit Studio, offers members a variety of Yoga and dance classes, including its’ signature class, Flyoga. In early 2010, Flyoga ® was founded here in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. This new yoga trend uses a hammock of silk as a prop which elevates and deepens poses.
The class begins with a warm-up on the mat, preparing muscles for the ‘fly’ portion. Slowly, air elements are incorporated into the flow as the instructor helps with individual adjustments. Traditional yoga moves are achieved with ease and comfort for any level yogi with the employment of the hammock.
Contrary to logical thinking, the hanging hammock eliminates risk of injury (yes, despite being above the ground, it is very safe!). Flyoga helps novices reap alignment benefits of otherwise inaccessible inverted poses. Flyoga also eliminates potentially harmful pressure on joints for those with joint problems.
Did you know – aside from the regular benefits from exercise, this form of yoga is good for your skin, too?! The Hammock is made of silk which has properties that moisturise and revitalise skin and hair.
In just a few weeks of practice, the fly hammock becomes easier to employ and flyogis are capable of their own progressions.
