The Workouts Meghan Markle Swears By
Meghan Markle wasn’t just sweating for the wedding – the actress/philanthropist has long given her body the royal treatment and has been one of the few refreshing celebrities who shows just how much effort and commitment goes into staying healthy and well. Before deleting her Instagram account (it’s a royal family thing…), Markle regularly used to post #sweatyselfies and stayed open with sharing how she takes care of her body, and mind.
Within the days leading up to her nuptials to Prince Harry, the internet was going crazy with just how Markle has been prepping for the big day (when they’re not hedging bets on the dress designer). Of course, over here at Team Guava, we’re most obsessed with finding out exactly how the international superstar and wellness enthusiast has stayed fit and healthy prior to walking down the aisle.
How Meghan Markle Got Wedding Fit
Pilates
Pilates scores high accolade from the princess-to-be, with Markle enthusing recently in an interview with Harpers Bazaar that “Pilates Platinum is hands down the best thing you could do for your body”, referencing her favoured LA studio, owned by long-time trainer turned friend Heather Dorak. The Pilates classes here are conducted on a Megaformer – which is a cranked up version of a Reformer machine – working with spring-loaded resistance to isolate your postural muscles and bring on the famous Pilates burn. Markle continued that the “results are amazing”, gushing that “first off, your body changes immediately…give it two classes, you will see a difference”.

Yoga
Markle’s mother was a yoga instructor and as such, the holistic movement practice is “in her blood”. Having consistently practiced Yoga since childhood, intense Vinyasa and Hot Yoga are now her favourite forms. And it’s even better in a darkened room with candles burning and hip hop blasting, she told Women’s Health in 2017.
Someone better tell the Queen to be expecting some Cardi B and Kendrick to be echoing through the Palace walls soon…
Running
Referring to running as her “moving meditation” in an interview with Women’s Health UK, Markle uses her time pounding the pavement to “clear her head as much as I do for keeping in shape”. With sightings of her clocking up KM’s around the grounds of Kensington Gardens since moving into the Palace, it seems like she is still getting in a few six-mile sessions to stay focused amongst all the wedding mayhem.
Seems like this princess is more Nike kicks than glass slippers – that our kind of girl!
Functional Training & HIIT
When she wasn’t busy filming on the set of Suits, our new favourite royal was sweating it out in functional fitness sessions that combined strength and conditioning, with her personal trainer, Craig McNamee. Adding in three to four 45 minute workouts into her weekly workout schedule, she prioritised her gym time, by scheduling her workouts first thing in the morning and focusing on a total body, high-rep, low weight strategy according to McNamee.

Mindfulness
Alongside all that sweating and training, there’s one thing Markle won’t compromise on, and that’s staying mindful. Her fitness has always been driven by her desire to stay holistically well. “My health, my state of mind, the feeling you have after a workout; all of these things drive me to step onto my mat or go to the gym,” she told Women’s Health. And one thing she won’t be quitting anytime soon? ““breathing – slowly and mindfully”.
