The small and pristine Meraki Yoga studio in Buona Vista offers GuavaPass members an exclusive and boutique yoga experience. Here, students can explore and connect to their practice through a range of heated, unheated and meditation classes. Hatha classes are a great starting class for beginners and a perfect option for regular yogis to expand on their foundation practice. Meraki Yoga’s Hot Hatha class was an expressive and fun session with the main focus today on hip openings and flexibility. Taking classes like this frequently is a perfect way to reduce stress and better your outlook on the day or week ahead.
The benefits of a hot class
The hot class allowed the members to push themselves and further their flexibility level. Working in such high temperatures relaxes the muscles, resulting in a reduced chance of injury and an increased in mobility. Hot classes also have amazing detoxifying effects on your body. Certain toxins can only be expelled by the body through sweat and it’s extremely beneficial to your health to remove them.
The flow of breath and poses
Today’s Hot Hatha class involved a number of breathing exercises to start, warming up the abdomen and core muscles for the hour of yoga that was to come. Using various flow movements, our instructor Priyan slowly directed the class through foundation yoga poses and posture correction positions. The modest class of 5 was instructed on a number of poses using the walls around them as they practiced standing splits, and forward folds with the additional support. Overall the session was easy to follow and provided the participants with a clearer mind and a relaxed outlook on the rest of the day.
Explore twists, back bends and inversions
The session came to a close with a great range of twists and bends, leaving the members open and relaxed. I’m a huge fan of Hatha classes as they are a require more strength than Yin classes but less flow than Vinyasa or Energise options. Meraki Yoga’s Hot Hatha class was a calm and mindful class for a slow Saturday morning.
Meraki Yoga offers GuavaPass members both heated and non-heated Hatha classes for different levels of intensity. In addition to Hot Hatha, Meraki Yoga offers Foundation Yoga, Vinyasa, Yin, Meditation and Core, giving GuavaPass members a boutique experience across a range of yoga styles.
