Truth #1 – WeBarre is a full body fitness class… Not a dance class
Barre workouts are based on ballet and pilates. Although we move to the beat and borrow from ballet, barre is not a dance class. You don’t need to have prior dance experience! What you need is a never give up attitude to help you push beyond your limits, because barre is a challenging workout!
Truth #2 – WeBarre is for all… Not just for women
If it’s good enough for the manliest of all men, like Arnold Schwarzenegger (we hear Michael Phelps too!), it’s good enough for you, bros! Barre is much harder than what most would expect. The class is not as dance focused as what people commonly mistaken it for. Barre is a workout which targets hidden muscle groups. Muscle groups which are forgotten in other more traditional forms of working out.
Truth #3 – WeBarre is for any level of fitness and body type. As long as you’re healthy enough to workout… You don’t need to be super flexible
The misunderstanding is that Barre workouts are a stretch and flexibility class. While cool down stretches are part of the class, it only happens at the end where we stretch to release muscles and improve mobility. The bulk of the class focuses on strength training, cardio, coordination and core control. What many people don’t know is that Barre (especially our WeBarre Fundamentals) is a great rehabilitative workout too! (Remember to consult your doctor before participating after an injury or surgery).
Truth #4 – The WeBarre workout can give you lean, toned muscles… It cannot spot reduce
The small pulses and repeated repetitions in class is to help increase strength, burn fat and tone muscles without the bulk. These movements are meant to work the muscles to the point of fatigue. You may even feel the “shakes” (embrace it!). Though these movements cannot spot reduce; in other words, lean out on specific areas like your “armpit fat”.
