Aquaspin™ took a change of scenery from its usual locations at Fort Canning and Dempsey to bear the elements at Tanjong Beach. Their signature HIIT class ran in the shallows of the cove with some eager regulars and interested newcomers to both aquacise and spin (including yours truly). The event ran 2 classes through a series of leg, ab and arm workouts both in the water and on the shore, and despite the overcast the class was extremely rewarding and enjoyable.
Their Signature HIIT classes are a fantastic workout, burning on average 800 kcal per Aquaspin™ session. Perfect for anyone with knee or leg injuries, the low impact but high resistance workout covers a range of movements and sequences to raise the heart rate and push you to your max. Our instructor Yannick taught us this morning for a 45-minute high intensity session with great energy and fantastic motivation. Over the session, he mixed high-speed sprints with breaststroke movements, and sitting/standing spins with over the head circles to make it an exciting workout for the entire body.
Aquaspin™ suits a range of people from athletes recovering from sports injuries, to women going through (or having just been through) pregnancy due to it’s temperature regulating and joint supporting properties. Being in the water with the group of ‘AquaSpinners’ felt like a real team sport with a great variety of new people to meet. The motions take a little getting used to but once you do, transitioning between sprints and steady state spinning is very easy to follow.

#GuavaTip: Make sure to drink plenty of water before and after each session – by exercising in the water it’s harder to notice how much water you lose through sweat.
