Chances are, you’ve heard of “High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)”. This training involves multiple bouts of high intensity exercise that’s guaranteed to push your heart rate up and give you a good sweat! What some benefits of HIIT?
Burn more calories
Studies have shown that more calories are expended when we perform exercises 80-90% of our maximum heart rate. Why is this so? One of the main reasons would be because after a high-intensity workout, our body would go into a state of “Excess post-exercise oxygen consumption(EPOC)” after a tough workout. Our body does this to restore the body’s oxygen deficit and adapt to the exercise just performed. This means more calories are burnt even after your workout!
In the hectic pace of city living, we often find ourselves with barely any time to exercise. Well, HIIT requires a maximum of 45 minutes per workout (including rest times!) and this makes HIIT one of the key reasons why it is so appealing.
