Most of us can benefit from faster metabolism, but how many of us know the little secrets that can help us take our metabolism several notches up? I am ready to share some easy tips on how you can increase your metabolism.
- Drink more green tea!
Honestly, everyone should be on board the tea wagon already, especially when it comes to green tea! Research shows green tea helps to increase metabolism.
What’s important is the quality of your green tea. A lot of the off the shelves green tea sold at most supermarkets are not the super power packed green tea that will help boost your metabolism all that much. It’s worth searching for high quality green tea (which may come at a price) and is usually a darker green color with a much more bitter taste than the low quality version.
- Increase your spice level.
Research has shown spicy foods like fresh red chilis, cayenne pepper, have the ability to increase your metabolism. Don’t go overboard and risk an upset stomach, but if added to some meals is a great quick way to ramp up your metabolism. It’s definitely win for us spicy seekers!
- Sleep, sleep, sleep!
Many people underestimate the power of sleep! Trust me! Sleep more and a lot of value will be added to your body and your life. A lot of positive things are happening while we’re sound asleep. Sleep is also one of the most underrated recovery methods. For those of us with insomnia, there are ways we can help ourselves get more sleep, before reaching for the sleeping aids.
- Eat your breakfast.
If you want to maximize your metabolism, breakfast should be a priority. Often people say they’re not hungry in the morning, as they’re body is still adjusting to being awake, but the fact is that eating breakfast is also a signal to your body that it’s time to wake up and start the day.
Consuming breakfast is a way to kick start your metabolism. If you wait until lunch time to eat your first meal, then your body will only really start getting into its metabolic gear after lunch.
If you want your metabolism revved up all day, eat breakfast! Even if it’s just a small bowl of granola or a banana, eating breakfast is your way to communicate to your body it’s time to wake up and get to work!
- Increase The Intensity of Your Workouts!
When you do high intensity trainings, especially those which spike up your heart rate to that point when it harder to breathe, that’s when you’re preparing your body towards it’s optimal burn zone. To burn fat, stick to about 65-70% of your maximum heart rate. If the focus is to challenge your aerobic capacity for increase stamina, then go for 85% of your maximum heart rate. Research has shown, spikes in heart rate, increases and prolongs your metabolic rate to an all day burn session!
