There was a lot about yoga that I did not know and could not do. What I did know is that I was drawn to the practice. My mind may not have thought I was ready for teacher training but my heart knew otherwise.
We often search for the meaning of things before we are willing to participate. Before selecting an entrée off the menu or a book off the shelf, we want to know what the experience will be like. And yet, the only way to really experience the meal is to eat it. The yoga studio where I practiced put up a flyer and I was immediately drawn to it. Yet I spent time contemplating. What will it be like? Am I ready? Do I want to teach yoga? What if I don’t want to teach yoga? What if my practice isn’t strong enough?
In searching for the answers to these questions, I came to realize that if I did not want to do yoga teacher training, I would not even be asking these questions. I decided to drop the concerns and “what if’s”, follow my heart, sign up and experience yoga teacher training.
During my first training, I did not envision myself starting a yoga school and leading teacher trainings and workshops. I just wanted to learn more about yoga. The flyer said “become a certified yoga teacher or just deepen the practice you already love”!
I am forever grateful for my decision to say yes. It led me to a path of self-discovery and opportunities to meet others and share what I love. The greatest lesson from all of my yoga trainings is to drop my doubts and know that I am always ready to listen to my heart.
