Last week we caught up with NewMoves owner and trainer Rob in Chidlom – here’s what he has to say about his gym, staying motivated and his favourite cheat meal….
Tell us a little bit about yourself; what made you decide to open NewMoves?
I returned to Bangkok from England with my wife two and a half years ago and saw something missing in the industry. We decided to fill that need by opening NewMoves in Chidlom, right off the BTS.
Where did the name NewMoves come from?
We decided on the name because it was reflective of our training: New, Fresh and Unique!
Can you describe briefly what the NewMoves gym philosophy is all about?
We aim to change the way people’s perception of exercise dand the way they train. We’re offering new options and new styles to help optimize their performance. Our 30 minute classes are designed to show people that you can get an effective workout in a shorter amount of time!
What are your tips on staying motivated?
I think it’s key to work with variety in your routine – try new things you would never usually try. However, make sure to take those opportunities in a safe environment.
Which NewMoves classes would you like to recommend to the Guava community?
Be sure to try our Pumped for Performance and S&M classes. Don’t get too excited though – contrary to what you might be thinking, S&M stands for Strength and Mass! 😉
What is your favourite workout?
I personally love Pumped for Performance. My background definitely leans more towards Strength and Conditioning, but I really enjoy Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as well.
What is your guilty-pleasure snack food?
I am a sucker for bread and candy… Any kind of candy!
When you are not at the studio, where can we find you?
My wife and I can almost always be found at K- Village with the dogs.
