What is SURFSET?
SURFSET’s ethos is about getting away from the traditional static workout and challenging your body in new ways. Each exercise performed on the board is designed to shock the system to create a change inside and out by engaging one’s core and stabilizer muscles. .
SURFSET doesn’t believe in muscle isolation when exercising and thus they opt for a full body approach inspired by, obviously, surfers (but not limited to). Their method draws from real surfing movements to create workouts that build balance, core strength, agility, aerobic conditioning, power, lean muscles and coordination. “Imagine combining the cardio benefits of Spinning with the muscle benefits of TRX training & the core benefits of working out on a Bosu ball. Now throw in some waves & make it fun!”
Both Hong Kong and Bangkok offer the exact same four signature classes to deliver maximum results for all fitness levels:
- Balance – Core strength, Flexibility, Stability, Dynamic Balance and body control
- Burn – Torch fat and tone your core in High Intensity Intervals
- Build – Get shredded with targeted bodyweight and resistance circuit training
- Blend – The world’s most effective total body session, inspired by surfing and other kinds of exercise like yoga
Singapore offers three classes: Balance, Core and Sweat, the latter of which is also very similar to the “Burn” class in the other cities.
Team GuavaPass Hong Kong signed up for the Blend class, which little did we know, was very intense! Under Cherilyn’s watchful eye, we did 4 by 4’s, which consisted of four different types of exercises, from lifting up alternate legs whilst planking, to doing side way mountain climbers on and off the surfboard but whether you’re interested in improving stability, body control, burning fat, building lean muscles or experiencing a total body workout, there is a SURFSET program suitable for you!
